After an elective abortion, it is important to schedule a follow-up appointment with a licensed healthcare provider to ensure you are healing physically, emotionally and spiritually. It’s important to check for any complications, some of which may include heavy or prolonged bleeding, pain, signs of infection, or signs of significant emotional distress.

At Hope Resource Center, our Nurse Practitioners provide post-abortion assessments which include assessment of vital signs, a detailed health history, screening questions to identify potential complications, and evaluation of any persistent pregnancy symptoms. If clinically indicated, the assessment may include laboratory testing, STD testing and in some cases, an ultrasound. Our Nurse Practitioners provide referrals for post-abortion emotional and spiritual support, as well as counseling/mental health referrals if needed.
